Who we areOur School
We are a state funded special school in London, England. We provide classroom and ward based education for children while they are in hospital. We are based at 4 hospital sites:
14% of children between 4 and 16 have a chronic illness. 1 in 7 school age children suffer from asthma, and 25,000 people under 20 have diabetes.Children have an entitlement to continue with their education, regardless of their circumstances.
Communication with the school is vital. Inform the school as soon as you can if your child: requires frequent admissions to hospital, has a hospital admission coming up, has had an illness or has been hospitalised with a period of time at home recovering
The education of pupils with medical needs either as a one-off incident or as a chronic condition is a partnership. In this partnership education, heath and other agencies must work closely together. This is necessary if we are to provide the support to enable a pupil with medical needs to receive their entitlement to an appropriate education.
