Chelsea Children's Hospital School News

I hope that all the year 11 pupils can breath a sigh of relief as their coursework is completed by Friday 29th April. Take a good relaxing break this weekend and make sure you have plenty of exercise and sleep in the run up to the exams. For many of you having your education disrupted by a hospital admission has been very difficult, but we have been incredibly impressed by your determination to reach your goals despite everything.

To our pupils who are at their home schools, we will be thinking of you over the next two months and we would be delighted if you could let us know your results.

We will be interviewing for two new members of staff on the 26th May. One is to replace Emma who is the Key stage one and two teacher at the Royal Brompton Hospital. She is going to be training as an educational Psychologist at the Tavistock in September. The post will be for a Key stage 1 & 2 teacher, who will be responsible for science and one other subject. The candidate would need to have good ICT skills and experience of special needs the post has one SEN point and one management point.

We have a new post for a Learning assistant working as a member of the team at all hospital sites. This candidate would need to have excellent ICT skills, an ability to work in a team and some experience of working with children.

Congratulations to Kate who has had a baby boy, Charlie, and Welcome to Miranda Duuruloo who is acting senior manager whilst, Marie Sherlock goes on maternity leave. We look forward to hearing her news soon. Welcome to Caleb from a hospital school in Perth who is teaching key stage 3 & 4 students on Rose ward.

We are delighted to have had two new artists working with us Catherine Parkinson has been working at Collingham and after some mud larking in the Thames has made a wonderful mosaic of the river. Well done to all the children who have worked on this project.

Shaun Dolan has also had a very exciting project with the secondary children at Chelsea and Westminster. A virtual Cafe Bugsy Malone style. His classes are very popular we look forward to seeing the finished results of the multi media project.

Thanks to the staff and students for working so hard - we will post both the finished projects on the web site.

We often hear from past pupils and we welcome their comments about the web site and their news - do continue to let us know what you think, and many thanks to Martin and his students for the wonderful musical compositions.

Good Luck Janette Steel
