Physical Education
Many children and young people in hospital are restricted in their ability to have access to a physical education programme. After consultation with the medical staff and the physiotherapy department children are encouraged to develop their movement ability through our music and drama curriculum.
At Collingham Gardens physical education is an area where many children can excel. Children have access to a weekly swimming session and achieve National awards. Horse riding is available with Riding for the Disabled and there is a structured programme of skills leading to certificates. Teacher’s liaise with the Occupational Therapists to ensure that individual skills are reinforced & gymnastics and team skills are sometimes enhanced by visiting coaches from Kensington & Chelsea sports team.
