Contact us

Collingham Child and Family Centre is a tertiary referral unit for up to sixteen children between the ages of five and thirteen, who have complex emotional, behavioural and mental health problems.

There are three classrooms, one for each Key Stage 1-3, an art/pottery room, activity room, a kitchen for food technology, library, cosy room, lounge for play and meetings and a small but well designed playground.

The teaching team consists of five teachers who provide access to all subjects of the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1,2 & 3. Each child has an initial assessment of their special educational needs and an individual education plan is agreed with the child and parents.

Children stay for an average of four months, during which time the teachers work closely with the parents or carers, home school and the Local Education Authority, to develop an agreed reintegration plan. School staff have training in the management of challenging behaviour, and are aware that if children behave in an unhappy and disturbed manner it is essential that there is a consistent and sensitive behaviour plan to support the child.
