Bake Off at the Brompton

Students at the Brompton have been very busy completing the CCHS Bake Off for another year running. This has been a really popular activity with both primary and secondary students.

The Bake off kicked off with 'Cake Week' and this year, students made loaf cakes and cupcakes.

The next week we partook in 'Biscuit week' making delicious shortbread biscuits – ranging from milk chocolate chip to double chocolate!

Then, we moved onto savoury bakes and made bread rolls for 'Bread week'. As this week fell at the same time as Halloween, a couple of students got creative and make their bread rolls into pumpkins!

New this year, was ‘Caramel’ week. For this, students made caramel chocolate biscuits. We think this is a week perfect for those with an extra sweet tooth!

Onto pastry week, a favourite amongst the team, this year sweet pastries were the preference of students. Pastry creations included apple and cinnamon tarts, chocolate twists and cinnamon swirls! This week also introduced the big question of ‘which pastry is best?’ – with all varieties of cinnamon pastries taking the lead as voted for by staff and students!

This year, our primary students combined the ‘Autumn’ week and ‘Dessert’ week and decided to make rice krispie cakes and rainbow cookies for ‘Children in Need’.

Finally, another new theme this year was ‘1970’s’ week. For this, one of our students researched a range of desserts before deciding on making a chocolate hedgehog cake. We loved the use of chocolate chips, buttons and beans to bring this character to life!

As you can see, all of the bakes turned out brilliantly! Students have been really creative and willing to give all baking challenges a go and we hope they enjoyed each week. We look forward to the CCHS Bake Off returning in 2025.
