Culture Day
On Wednesday 17th July, students and staff at CCC celebrated ‘Culture day’! Students arrived at school dressed up as a country (with Teacher Lauren looking a little sheepish in an England football shirt after Sunday’s final!). They then spent lessons completing a kahoot quiz about different cultures, made country fact files and played guess the flag whilst enjoying listening to music from a wide range of genres and styles. Thank you to Tatyana, Sharon and Nicol for planning these activities!
Students also bought in a range of foods from different cultures. R and Lauren made Moroccan ‘Harcha’, which are semolina pan-fried flatbreads. It took a few attempts to get the consistency right but we were delighted with the outcome! Other foods included polish pretzel ‘fingers’, scones with clotted cream and fresh strawberries, Moroccan Msemen pancakes, Argentinian dulche de leche biscuits, Romanian ‘Chec’ sponge cake, French Quatre-quart cake and French bread!
In the afternoon, staff and students competed in the classic ‘old school sports day’ race including the famous ‘egg and spoon’ race – For the staff race, Oli came first followed by Magali. For the student race, C won shortly followed by R in second place and L in third! The CCC team also played a game of Pétanque taught by Magali and finally learned Cumbia dance with Mica.
A brilliant way to celebrate the diversity of our school and to experience new foods, traditions and music. Well done to CCC and roll on next year’s event!
